Localization of brain activity from EEG/MEG using MV-PURE framework

We consider the problem of localization sources brain electrical activity from electroencephalographic (EEG) and magnetoencephalographic (MEG) measurements using spatial filtering techniques. propose novel reduced-rank indices based on minimum-variance pseudo-unbiased estimation (MV-PURE) framework. The main results this paper establish key unbiasedness property proposed their higher resolution compared with full-rank in challenging task localizing closely positioned possibly highly correlated sources, especially low signal-to-noise regime. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate practical applicability both simulated real data.
